September is the month for Tsukimi or moon-viewing in Japan. This is an old tradition in order to celebrate the harvest moon. Right now you can find a lot of Tsukimi related sweets and merchandise in the department stores. These usually feature pictures of the moon and ... rabbits (because according to Japanese belief there lives a rabbit on the moon).
This is how we celebrated Tsukimi at Hatagaya today. ;)
It was only a matter of minutes until Ai had made these fabulous rabbit ears!
Our Japanese customers seemed to be used to foreigners dressing up as rabbits as well. Everyone pretended I looked totally normal. ^^;
We had fun anyway, taking photos and eating O-Tsukimi-dango. :D
