英国紙ガーディアンが発表したガーディアン・トラベル・アワード2011（Guardian Travel Awards）において日本と東京がそれぞれ満足度の高い観光地ランキング）の長距離国別部門（Favourite Long Haul Country）及び海外都市別部門（Favourite Overseas City）において1位を獲得しました。あの震災の影響があるにも関わらず根強い人気が伺えます。

Japan and Tokyo were voted favourite overseas countries and city, though visitor numbers have taken a big hit in the wake of the earthquake and tsunami, Guardian travel awards 2011.
